    Peel potatoes and quarter

  • 2

    Place in a large pot of cold water

  • 3

    Peel garlic cloves and add to pot

  • 4

    Bring the water to a boil and then add the 2 teaspoons salt

  • 5

    Continue cooking 15 minutes or until potatoes are very tender

  • 6

    Place the butter and sour cream in the bottom of a large bowl

  • 7

    Force the potatoes and cooked garlic cloves through a ricer into the bowl

  • 8

    Stir to incorporate, adding more sour cream as needed

  • 9

    Season to taste with salt and pepper.

  • 2-1/2 pounds russet potatoes
  • 6 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, cut up
  • 1 cup sour cream or more
  • Salt and pepper to taste
